For Medical Professionals

It’s been my pleasure to work in Primary Care in Ontario since 2011 as a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist (MSW RSW) with patients experiencing mental health challenges. Many of the patients I’ve worked with have experienced significant issues as the result of the social determinants of health, trauma, abuse and mental illness.

In addition to treating anxiety, depression, trauma and chronic disorders, I’m particularly interested in assisting your patients with anxiety they may be facing as the result of upcoming procedures or surgeries. Their ability to stay calm and focused should have a positive impact on their experience.

I also have expertise in assisting people with chronic pain, having led the former-LHIN’s Take Charge! groups for chronic pain in both Oxford County and in Kitchener. Based on demand, I can run chronic pain workshops of my own design to provide education and to connect people who are living with chronic pain with each other. I also do this work with individual patients.

My experience extends to working with specialized populations including adults and elders of the LGBTQ community, individuals who require translation (ASL and English), individuals with acquired injuries and those with congenital differences. Please note that translation services are not included in my current fee schedule and will be the responsibility of the patient. Professional translators are required for my services.

Additionally, I offer Discovery Counselling, which is my term for assisting people who do not have mental health issues come to grips with difficult decisions in their lives. Your patients may be grappling with the stress of considering a career change, coping with job loss, considering a move to a new community or letting go of an existing plan to develop a new one. I’m happy to be the facilitator for their exploration, development and execution of next steps.

You can feel confident in referring your patients to my care. With the patient’s written permission, I can communicate with you about the work we’re doing together. I offer fee-for-service psychotherapy and counselling.
